“Drowsiness” is a story about people existing in a state of emotional lethargy. They live in catastrophic relationships and fade instead of running away. None of them has a courage to change his or her life, yet they are aware that they can’t take it any longer. Róża is an actress but she can’t work because she suffers from narcolepsy. She suspects her husband is cheating on her yet is afraid to face the problem. Adam, a young doctor, is tossing between the loyalty to his parents and choosing his own way of life. Robert, a famous writer, faces a difficult trial… Coincidently the protagonists’ paths cross and the fate gives them a chance to break free from emotional narcosis.

„Drowsiness in the film is associated with apathy, a state in which a man would like to sleep but he does not or he sleeps a disturbed sleep. It is a state in which a man cannot fall into a deep sleep, is in a coma and what he or she experiences is a mere illusion of a sleep. Personally I have had such moments in my life and I think the topic of the film is familiar to everybody“, – says one of the leading actors of the film Michal Zebrowski.

Magdalena Piekorz was born in1974 in Poland. She is a scriptwriter, director, PhD at Radio and Television Department at Silesia University, where she has classes with students. She directs theatre plays and Television Theatre spectacles. Directed several documentaries awarded at film festivals. Her debut feature film „The Welts” 2004 was awarded in Poland and abroad. “The Drowsiness” is her second feature film.
