Jerzy Skolimowski is an award-winning Polish director, scriptwriter, actor and painter. Graduated in ethnology, literature and history from Warsaw University in 1959 and directing in Lodz Film Academy in 1962. With over twenty films to his name, his work includes Berlin Golden Bear winner “The Departure” (1967), drama “Deep End” (1970), Cannes Grand Prix winner “The Shout” (1978), the political drama “Moonlighting” (1982), and “The Lightship” (1985), for which he won Best Director at the Venice Film Festival. He has also received the Golden Lion for the Lifetime Achievement from Venice Film Festival. Skolimowski is an accomplished painter who has taken part in the Venice Biennale and exhibited across Europe and the US.
